Professor Braulio Estima is our head professor, and is widely considered to be one the best jiu jitsu practitioners and teachers in the world. Throughout his competitive career he has collected many world championship titles, including IBJJF World Champion, UAEJJF World Pro Champion, IBJJF European Champion, IBJJF Pan American Champion and is an ADCC open weight and superfight champion.
Prof. Braulio has a lively and charismatic energy which is reflected in his teaching. His passion for jiu jitsu is as strong as ever as he continuously works to evolve and develop his game and understanding of the art. He is dedicated to making all our students jiu jitsu journeys as fulfilling as possible and takes pride in their achievements.
Professor Jakub is from Bialystok, Poland and started training jiu jitsu aged 12. He began competing in Poland aged 15, and did well nationally, but decided that to fulfill his dream of competing at a high level internationally he needed to move. Jakub was invited by Professor Braulio to join him in the UK and since then Jakub’s life has completely changed: his passion has become his job and he competes regularly around the world at the highest level. Jakub hopes to be able to influence others through his jiu jitsu.

Professor Laura started training Jiu- Jitsu at the age of 14 and has been in love with the sport ever since, from the excitement of competition to training and teaching the next generation. Laura is fascinated by Jiu Jitsu; constantly being faced with new problems to solve, it is forever evolving with new generations creating exciting and different techniques. Jiu Jitsu has given Laura the opportunity to travel the world, where she has met amazing athletes and lifelong friends.

Professor Nathan was introduced to Jiu Jitsu by Braulio Estima in 2004, and since then it has become ingrained in his everyday life. He has competed at competitions around the world and won championships at every belt level. He was awarded his black belt in December 2012 by Braulio Estima and continues to compete regularly.

Professor Dave started martial arts over 20 years ago and has now been practising Jiu-Jitsu for 17 years. He began his journey with the hope of changing his life for the better, and after training extensively for years decided to go full time in 2011. Dave began competing monthly around the world, claiming many titles and Jiu Jitsu became an integral part of his life. Dave now continues to train everyday and has turned his work hard towards helping others to change their lives for the better. He works closely with schools and schemes to bring the art into the lives of others, helping to provide platform and opportunities to change lives.

Jiu Jitsu has been a game changer for Coach Matt, who during his time at Gracie Barra Birmingham has grown from student to instructor. Matt describes his time in the academy as the most important part of his day, and although Jiu Jitsu has been more of a hobby for him, he has competed at the British and English open at every belt level so far and has meddled in both gi and no-gi competition.

Danyal started his Jiu Jitsu journey in 2009 at the age of 7 and since then it has become a part of his everyday life. Danyal has a true passion for the sport and love for the art: he competes on both the National and International circuit and is one of our top athletes. Alongside his competitive career Danyal loves to teach and inspire the younger generation to help them grow and fulfil their talent. He has ambition to further his Jiu Jitsu career in both competing and teaching and build on his already strong reputation.
